International expedition to Makalu 1981. Expedition leader Wojciech Kurtyka. The other members are Alex MacIntyre and Jerzy Kukuczka. On October 15, 1981, Jerzy Kukuczka climbed the Makalu peak alone (8481 m above sea level) by a new alpine style route (north-west flank and northern ridge).
